Husband, Poem, Puppets

Puppets, their strings, all muddled
like headphones, confused, befuddled
Tired, and saggy, worn out, baggy
Waiting, to be tugged, and sometimes hugged

Their eyes,their soulless eyes,devoid,
Any action, unless pushed, they try to avoid
To the market they go, To the office they go
To umpteen places, all places they know

Come hell, high water, typhoon or thunder
They won’t move a muscle, lest it be a blunder
Their master, they obey, lest they be cut out
They cower, and cringe, when their master doth shout

Bravado, Machismo, Courage, Gall
Puppets, they have but these virtues of all
Husbands, they’re called, but what they most fear
Are those days when they’re called,”My dear!”

Life’s a drag…

life, Poem, Time

When waiting becomes boring
And life becomes bland and bleary
And time ticks along, dragging you, weary
No memories, nor moments are made worth storing…

Like puppets (not puppies!) , our strings run taut
Like baited fish( but not guppies), our fates are so wrought;
Our toughest decisions, them blinders, commoner than we thought
In the grand scheme of things, it all comes to nought…

We think we have climbed it, the Everest of bad days
‘Twas but a hillock , a turn in the maze
We think we have made it, we sing and we rhyme
We all misunderstand, we think we have time…

Till one day, the strings, they slacken, cut clean
And we’re left alone with our memories, of days that have been
The boring ones, the bright ones, the ones we let by
When if only through stronger will, we could have learned to fly

Don’t be that guy…

Poem, Trust

Don’t grudge nobody their peace and sleep
Nor their love, nor their cup of morning’s dew
Just their money, their successes to keep
And everything else that was meant for you

Don’t thank nobody, but God, for they
Are innately selfish, as selfish can be
Through silver, or deed, they get their way
And think that none but them can see

Don’t believe them golden words,
That silky smooth texture, the devil’s tongue
And be caged, like little trapped birds
Don’t ignore the old, nor rely on the young

For traveling the path, you must hew
The fiery fields, navigate them scary seas
And come out burnt, yet come out new
Don’t grudge nor whine o’er the Devil’s fees…

Kya bakwaas hai ye gayak
Isse accha main gaata hu
Kuch soch is tarah rakhkar nalayak
Mann hi Mann muskurata hu

Kya ajab shabd Hai, Kya gazab bol Hai
Kuch gadbad Hai, kuch jhol Hai
Arre saalo se ye gaana gaa Raha tha
Aaj lafz badal Gaye, khuli meri pol Hai

Koi sur kahaan, kahaan taal Hai?
Bas woh gayak malamaal Hai
Woh purana zamaana toh Gaya yaaro
Ab badli sangeeth ki chaal Hai

Kabhi mehfil hua karti thi, hum bhi the sangeetkar
Kabhi kiya karte the shaam ka intezaar
Jab chalte radio, aur bas jhoom uthte the bahaar
Aaj bik Chuka Hai sangeeth, bik Gaya woh purana pyaar…
Ab toh guzaarish bhi hoti hai toh sirf DJ waale babu se yaar..
