I complained, complained a lot
About all the things that I never got
And felt I deserved, timely, without stress
I complained in all the ways that I could express…

Then I saw out there, men without teeth
Men gone mad, like a sword without a sheath,
Men who had reason to curse unto hell
Men who couldn’t speak, men who would just yell…

I saw them break, and crack and scatter,
Become dust and fly in the winter wind
I saw their bloody tears, saw their teeth chatter
I saw them confess, for all they have sinned

Now I completely understand, their reasons to cry
Now I no longer need to ask God why
Now and then, I complain, loudly and sore
To give me the strength to face life, God why didn’t you before?
