Kabhi nishaani chhod ja
Apne astitv ki, apne hone ka
Uth ja, pagle,pair chala,
Ye waqt nahi hai sone ka

Datt ja tu, bas maanna na haar
Teri jeet pe manayenge tyohaar
Pade rehne ka sukoon ek dhoka hai
Ye sukoon ek hawa ka jhoka hai

Nishabd, ye duniya nikal jayegi aage
Aur tu bas peeche peeche bhaage
Kosna na kismat ko us waqt, mere yaar
Uth ja, toofaan se ladne ko ho tayyaar

Nindiya na aaye, aise sapne dekho hazaar
Mehnat se mere bhai, mehnat se karo pyaar
Aaj aur abhi ka waqt hai sahi, sun le
Bas uth ja mann mere, sapne baadme bun le…

I never thought I would

I never thought I would
Run through the day like this
Time, when it has no meaning
What can I say? Gee whiz!

I never thought I’d begin
And end the day aloof
But seventeen hours of sloth, sin!!
Here I am, on the bed, poof!

Ambitions burnt, muscles drooping
Weak as a paper Mobius strip, looping
I turn on myself, my mind entropies
Though like an eagle, it’s soaring, swooping

I never thought I’d remain
A shell, a mere shell, of my capabilities
Killed me, did what? My responsibilities
Or so I say to myself, again n again

I never thought I’d argue
With myself, and lose spectacularly
That moral fibre inside me is new
I never thought I’d never get to see the old me

And that makes me sad, that makes me weep
That hurts my feelings, buried so deep
Compartmentalize, I do, I know I should not
I never thought that my feelings’d be all I got …

Happiness, Poems, Sunflowers

How do I feel about sunflowers?
This morning I asked myself, wondering
What magic do they seek, what powers
In yellow rays, still pondering

Meandering through the village road
I come upon them in a field, seeking the light
You must do the same, they goad
All smiling, decked up, bright

When the sun is shrouded,
Or the sky is clouded
They seek each other’s faces
To share, but what they have in traces

Oh how much to learn, in that short while
From these seeded pots of yellow today…
Always Seek the light, always share a smile,
What more does a sunflower need to say?

Easy, Hard, Love, Poems, Tough

Love is too hard, stayin lovin hard too
Don’t let down your guard
Don’t think you know what to do

If it ain’t even a little bit of pain
Then it ain’t love baby, ain’t nothin to gain
Love is too hard, love is not for you

Ain’t no mirrors broken, ain’t no plates thrown
Then have you even loved, have you even grown
Love, you think is rosy, love is easy-peasy?
Love is anything but that, anything but breezy

You think you’re gonna make it out alive
Love isn’t like a job, you do it nine to five
Love is eternal, the pain and the balm
Love extends to infinity, love begets the calm

Like lightning, you love to watch it flash
But no, love, Love is like being in a plane crash
Love may be attainable, but love is too hard
Love made many an idiot, and many a bard…

Dreams Of Escaping

Dreams, Escaping, Poems, thoughts, wishes

Do you dream of escaping
Running away, living anew
No future worries, suffering
Away from everything you ever knew

Do your dreams flow, like a river
Clear, and pristine blue
And on a boat, you sit and laze
Do such dreams make you shiver?

Do random photos of cabins in a wood
Make you want to go and stay?
Do beaches and shacks and unlimited food
Make you want to run away?

A hundred men and women to serve you
Your every wish and dream
And mansions made of marble hue
And happiness, such that you scream

But dawn awaits, and the picture’s grey
Awake, your eyes they will once again betray
Your longing, your desire, your wish to fly
And there ain’t nothing else to do but cry

Love, My son, Poems

You nibble my nose,
And kiss my cheek
You know that makes me
So very very weak

You loom, and stare
Into my eyes, with orbs
A dirty brown, smile and bare
My soul for all eternity

You nestle up in the crook
Of my arms , and nap and snore
You read me like a book
And know which buttons to push

To make me grin, and wonder why
God blessed me so, my little boy
You make me feel alive and spry
You. You bring me so much joy…

Anger, Fury, Poem, Poems, Rage, Wrath

How do you calm the stormy seas
How do you silence a swarm of bees
That bubbling, boiling, raging mind
Broth of anger, one of a kind

How do you quell, a thousand erotemes
And yet not descend into extremes?
How do you soothe, that lava flowing
And keep your brittle mind from blowing?

How do you ply that insipid balm
That crack, that sizzle upon that palm
Crinkled forehead, burning shame
Rage, that rage, how will you tame?

For moonlit nights, no more bring peace
Furious, tempestuous, unwilling to bend,
Try as I might, my mind to fleece
This loneliness brings wrath, unwilling to end

Broken Friendships

Friendships, Poems

That memory, so fresh, that day so new
The day that “Hello” was said, and the wind blew
A thousand gods smiled, history was made
A friendship was forged, like a samurai blade

Forgotten today, circumstances and time
Have hidden, devoured, those wonderful days
Of fun-filled camaraderie, unbridled rhyme
Of two friends, together, of love & of praise

There now, perfunctory, formal and aloof
Where once was spontaneity, competition and grace
Where two friends was all it took, to raise the roof,
There now, sits just silence, and no friendly race

What heartbreak, what sadness,
What feelings one cannot relay
Where once there was madness
There now a vacuum, and nothing to say

In memory of a friendship I’ve lost to the ravages of time

Love, Poems, stories

To entangle, every thread of your life
To love, and cherish you, my wife
To knit and weave, threads of my own
And make us whole, one, not alone…

That is the story I wish to narrate
Of lovely little mornings, some early, some late
And nights held together, by whispers of love
A story, of us, what a story! Wow!

Imagine, the distance, of years gone by
When we look back and remember the sky
As it first looked on us, united by fate
And we started our eternity, though it was a bit late

Imagine the wrinkles, a story in each
Of us sipping colas on some secluded beach
And travels, and travails, and memories so clear
A story, of us, only us my dear …

Moon, Moonlight, Poems

The meaning of moonlight
Has never been found
Pondered, perhaps, in hindsight
As long as Man has been around

‘Tis different, from sunlight
From all that is day
‘Tis foreboding,and yet bright
Only if it chooses to play

The hooting, the crickets, and yet
All quiet in a mesmerizing bubble
Night, each of us has in our own way met
Some see peace, yet some see trouble

And moonlight, that guardian,
An agent of Mother Peace
Moves swiftly, in a white cardigan
As it patrols the streets
